For as long as I can remember …
I wanted a Vanagon.
My childhood best friend who lived next door to us in Ohio owned one. It was a fabulous capsule that had it all - kitchen, couch, stereo - and a sliding door we could close to seal off our make believe adventure.
I fell in love with its modular style. Everything seemed to fit together perfectly in that box of a van, a funhouse that could roll down the road.
When I reflect on my career all these years later, I think how that design sense seemed to stick. I’ve worked as a newspaper reporter, bag maker, blogger and digital marketer, and all of those jobs involve arranging elements - words, pictures, pockets and blocks of code - neatly into a container. I love it!
Today, I live with my husband, son, two collies and a ‘87 Vanagon GL in Philadelphia.
